Media cooperation project holds initial coordination meeting in Ankara

Media cooperation and peace journalism in the South CaucasusOn 15-17 April 2011, ICCN and ECMI gathered the focal points from the South Caucasus regions in Ankara for the official kick-off event of the project "Media cooperation and peace journalism in the South Caucasus."

The focal points and other media professionals from the region established personal contacts and discussed suitable mechanisms for information exchange and how such mechanisms could be integrated with the South Caucasus Network of Peace Journalists established by ICCN within the framework of GPPAC. With facilitation from the ICCN-ECMI project team, the focal points further agreed on the methodology of implementation of specific project activities including the training on peace journalism and the collection of regional blog posts.

The second day of the coordination meeting was mainly devoted to the discussions on conflict-sensitive journalism in the South Caucasus with focus on experiences of the meeting participants, as well as to the discussion of specific ideas from the meeting participants on improving information exchange and media cooperation in the South Caucasus.
