Subsequent to the workshop on conflict-sensitive journalism in Northern Cyprus, ICCN and ECMI co-organized a follow-up roundtable in Tbilisi on 12 October 2011 with the participation of the project donors from the COBERM/UNDP team and the German Marshall Fund’s Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation, local civil society organizations, media professionals, and representatives of the international community in Georgia.
During the two-hour event, the Georgian group of journalists shared their experiences of participating jointly with colleagues from Abkhazia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and South Ossetia in the workshop. Materials developed by the journalists during and about the workshop were also presented. Some of the Abkhaz, South Ossetian and Azerbaijani journalists as well as one of the international trainers, Onnik Krikorian, were able to participate in the event via Skype video-link up.
During a closed session prior to the public event, the participating journalists from Georgia discussed and evaluated the workshop in Northern Cyprus and further developed their ideas for continued cooperation with their colleagues across the South Caucasus.
