GPPAC - RSG meeting

GPPAC South Caucasus Regional Steering Group meeting took place on May 6 at ICCN office. The members of the Group gathered in order to analyze the regional process for 2009 and discuss the main directions for the upcoming period.

 

The activities undertaken in 2009 were discussed. The members considered the positive factors that contribute to the activation of the regional process as well as those risk factors that hinder the implementation of the activities. The Action Plan for 2010 was considered and approved.
The members of the RSG presented some new initiatives, among them: creation of web site of the South Caucasus regional process, expansion of the regional network and more regular exchange of information and views among regions involved in GPPAC.

The participants also introduced a brief overview of political situation within their countries as well as the representatives from conflict zones were focused on peace initiatives.

Armenian and Azerbaijan representatives also talked on the developments within Independent Civil Minsk Process that goes along with OSCE Minsk Group work. This initiative was launched by a group of civil society organizations that represents the views and approaches to Nagorno Karabakh conflict by civil society.
